Bedfont 1-6 AFC Wimbledon
Another solid performance from the Dons today, six more goals against a good Bedfont team, but the Dons did not really get into 2nd gear.
The first goal came in the 13th minute when a corner from Ryan Gray was cleared back out to him and the 2nd cross flew across to the head of the tower that is Matt Everard who drilled the ball unstoppable into the back of the net.
Coops scored another cracking goal bringing down a ball from over his shoulder when he latched and then going between to Bedfont players and slide home the ball from just in outside the six yard box, Sully could have made it three nil soon after that when he took the ball from the halfway line pass six players and into the box, but his momentum and a very dry pitch seem to conspire in him losing his balance just as he was about to strike the ball. Half time score 0-2 the Dons.
Finally Bedfont came out in the 2nd half and after 9 minutes a corner from the left was cleared short to a Bedfont player and the resulting shot bounced badly and over the diving Matt Martin goal 1-2 , but the challenge was short lived, when Sully on another one of his runs down the wing was fouled level with the box, Ryan Gray swung over a pinpoint ball to the far corner were Matt Everard headed it down and back across goal and just as it looked as if it was going wide up popped Coops to tap the ball in 1-3.
Kevin Cooper could have had a third, two minutes later but his effort was ruled offside, with 20 minutes of the 2nd half gone Joe Sheerin back from injury replace Ali Russell, who had a good match and within two minutes a free kick from Ryan on the left this time was hit goalwards Coops went to cheekily backheel the ball home, but could not make contact which seem to confuse the Bedfont players who cleared the ball to Joe who's shot on goal was only parried by the keeper into the path of an incoming defender who knock the ball passed him back into the net own goal 1-4.
With the game over as a contest Coops was taken off and replaced with new signing Paul Scott who looked lively from the off and another top signing by Terry Eames and it was him and Joe that linked up well to lay the ball into Ryan Gray on the edge 1-5.
The sixth goal came after a bit of pinball in the box and Ryan Gray and Paul Scott this time combining to lay the ball to Joe clear in the box and he just does not that sort of chance 1-6.
Darren Dobinson (back from holiday) came on for Ryan Gray, but despite the number of balls he and Sully where flying into the box in the last ten minutes, which only just outnumbered the planes (sorry just had to mention the big noisy metal things) the Dons could not get the seventh goal, so we will just have to settle for six again o'well :-)

September
AFC Wimbledon 6-0 Chessington
& Hook Utd
Let's just start by saying how well C&H played for ninety minutes and in the 1st half apart from our two shots off the post and another couple off the crossbar there was not much to choice between the two teams and the game had the feel of one of those games where your opponents sneak a last minute winner, then came half time.
C&H changed their formation at half time and within minutes both sides of the C&H defence were being torn apart 1st on the right by Sully and then on the left by Ryan Gray and it was from one of these attacks that Sully crossed the ball low into the box and there at the far post to knock it in was Ryan with just three minutes gone.
Its took less than six minutes to get the 2nd, well more to the point only ten minute in total to get the 2nd and 3rd and 4th , the 2nd was another top draw classic from Coops holding the ball up with his back to goal just outside the box, he did a trademark Coops turn and unleashed the ball into he top right corner.
The 3rd could have be one of three players with 1st Ali Russell having his shot cleared only to Ryan Grays whose shot hit a C&H player, then Coops have the ball knocked away from the line only for it to full back to Ali to knock it home for a goal he well deserved for his performance alone.
The 4th again came in from the right but this time it was from a Simon Bassey freekick which Danny Oakins headed home pass the now shell shocked C&H defences.
Terry Eames made two chances Seb Favata was replaced by Noal Frankum on (70) and Ali was replaced by Ryan Luffman (72m), where this will usually give you opponents time to regroup, there was no respite from the onslaught and with Luffman giving then a new threat with his pace, it took just five minutes for the Dons to get the 5th goal and it was that man again Kevin Cooper with his 2nd of the night and compared with his 1st it was a simple tap in.
One last change was made with 17 year old Lewis Taylor making his home debut by replacing Danny Oakins for the last 12 minutes, then on 81 minutes and for the 1st time at Kingsmeadow the Dons hit six and guess who was there to head home the pin point cross from Ryan Gray, yep Keeeeeeevin Coooooper and to celebrate he stripped off his top and throw it into the crowd, luckily for him he was able to get it back and finish the game.
With nine minutes left the Dons where still in the hunt for more goals Gray and Sully were both still causing trouble down the wings, Ryan Luffman could have also got on the score sheet in the final minutes but could not make contact with a Sully cross.
To say the 2,494 crowd went home happy would be an understatement, played eight won eight and four points clear of the team in 2nd place, who have played three more games than us, next up are Bedfont away on Saturday, we played Bedfont three times and won three time last season at home it was 5-1, but the away games which like Kingsmeadow has a good pitch were tight 2-1 wins and Bedfont are not doing to bad this so far this season with only one defeat, three wins and two draws so it could be another tight game.
Team : Merry, Bassey, Oakins, Everard, Gibson, Sullivan, Favata, Bolger, Russell, Cooper, Gray.
Subs : Noel Frankum (on4Seb), Luffman (on4Ali), Taylor (on4DannyO)
Goal Scorers : Ryan Gray (48), Kevin Cooper (54,77,81), Ali Russell (56), Danny Oakins (58)
Attendance : 2,494

Pagham
0-1 AFC Wimbledon F.A. Vase - 2nd Qualifying Round
A headed goal from Matt Eveard on 9 minutes gave the Dons the victory against Pagham and take us through to the 1st round proper of the F.A.Vase.
Coops had a goal disallowed for offside and Ali Russell hit the cross bar, but no one looked like increasing the lead in what was turning out to be the poorest performance so far this season.
The sending off of Simon Bassey in the 2nd half while Pagham where having a good spell meant the Dons had a backs against the wall last 35 mins, and if it wasn't for an excellent tackle in the box on the clean through Pagham player we could have been in for extra time as well.

Ilford 6-2 AFC Wimbledon London
Senior Cup
A mainly reserve team where knocked out against an OK Ilford team with Danny Oakins being sent off in the 1st half and considering the state of the pitch which could have had tumbleweeds rolling across it was so bad, there was more sand on the pitch than in the long jump pit it was probably good that the 1st string weren't playing in case they picked up some injuries.
The most entertaining moment came with minutes left when five or six Dons supports staged their own 100 meter's race along the running track.

AFC Wimbledon 4-1 Farnham Town
Another three points and another commendable performance by Darren Dobinson both in defence and attacking down the wing with Ryan Gray and it was one of Dobo's attacking runs down to the byline that lead to a cross into the box and there was Coop's to place the ball into the net for his 1st goal on 13 minutes, Farnham could have pulled a goal back minutes later after a mix up at the back, but put the wide.
The Dons 2nd goal came on 32 minutes when Joe Sheerin ran at the Farnham's defence and passed the ball inside to Coops who turned his player and laid it Ryan Gray who passed in back into the path of Joe Sheerin to knock it home from the edge of the box taking a deflection on the way in.
Joe went up for a header minutes later and landed awkwardly and was replaced by Lion White, the Farnham keeper kept the score at just two with a couple of fine saves and it was good to see he was being treated better than the previous away keeper.
With half time approaching Farnham Town silenced the crowed when their number eleven lobbed Ray Merry to bring the score to 2-1.
Farnham had a good spell after the brake which was not help by Ray Merry who 1st dropped a ball to Farnham player who shot on goal was cleared off the line by Dobo and then he came to clear the ball on the touchline, but didn't and thankfully Dobo was again on hand to not only clear but set up another attack.
After a bad tackle on Gray and a few flying fist Farnhams Ripley was sent off.
The Don's 3rd goal came on 76 minutes from a corner on the right Danny Oakins got his head to the ball and guided it towards the goal, there was a scramble on the line and Coops and a Farnham player both put the ball into the back of the net, Coops celebrated it and was also awarded the goal.
Coop's nearly got his hat-trick when Sully put him through on goal, but put it straight at the keeper, with 90 plus minutes the Dons where award a freekick on the edge of the box Coop's set the ball up and with a bit of distraction from Bassey in the wall he was able to curled the ball low into the opposite corner, but in doing so it looked like he stained his groin as all subs had been used he had to carry on playing to fulltime.
Eight straight wins and next up for the Dons are Ilford in the London Senior Cup, Ilford who today won 4-1 in their league, so could be a tight game.
Team : Merry, Gibson, Angell, Oakins, Dobinson, Sullivan, Favata, Bolger, Gray,; Cooper, Sheerin.

Tuesday 9th September
AFC Wimbledon 4-0 Frimley Green
After Saturdays result it was no surprise that Frimley Green a team that had like Wesftfield had conceded quite a few goal already this season came to Kingsmeadow with a highly defensive formation i.e. a keeper and ten defenders and the writing was on the wall for them after on 9 minutes when Coops headed (yes again) the ball home at the far post, but this one didn't count as the linesman had already put his flag up for offside.
It was all one way and the Dons came close to opening the scoring again when a long cross ball from our own half was hit on the volley by Ryan Gray from just outside the box and was sailing into the top corner, until the FG keeper got his hand to the ball and the post and tipping the ball over, but in doing so dislocating or braking a finger in the process.
On 38 mins Danny Oakins went down in the box maybe a bit to easily for which the ref gave a penalty Coops put the ball on the spot, stuck the ball low to the keeper's left, but too near to the keeper who had guest correctly and saved the penalty.
With half time minutes away Seb Favata crossed the ball from the left to which Danny Oakins managed to get his head to 1-0 the Dons HT.
With the Dons putting on the pressure it still took twenty minutes to open the FG defence and once again it was that man Kevin Cooper, taking the ball on the corner of the six yard box he turned one player and curved the ball past the FG keeper into the far corner.
With the FG keeper getting a bit more than the usual banter from the westbank some of which was out of order and should be stamped out, trying to get Coops booked and then Wade Favata getting booked for making his view's about the keepers behavior know was not the smartest move to make and the final ten minutes for him didn't get any better, with 1st their own no. 5 heading the ball backwards from the same spot Coops had scored earlier which also bent round the keeper and off the post in the goal for the Dons third, but he also aggravated his injured hand.
Then to top it off Sully turned their defence inside out, then passed the ball inside to Coops with his back to the goal, who turned two players as per normal and slotted the ball home for his 2nd and the Dons 4th.
With the 100% record not under any pressure of going in the last two games, expect the visit of Farnham Town on Saturday, if they play like last season's games to be another waiting game, with plenty of build up before any goals, but as we've shown so far this season we are more than capable of braking down teams.

F.A. Vase
Westfield 2-7 AFC Wimbledon
What a cracker the game started a fast pace and it only took 7 mins for Seb Favata to open the scoring and his 1st goal for the club was a long range strike from the edge of the box, then it was the Coop's show with a 25 mins hat-trick only separated by a goal given to Westfield after Matt Martin goal kick across the box found a Westfield player on his own with an open goal, but that wasn't the end of the 1st half scoring as Joe Sheerin wanted some goal action and after a couple of missed chances came up with his 1st of the day on 37 mins, giving the Dons a 1-5 win lead at half time.
The second half started with the ref sending Danny Oakins off for a last man tackle which the ref also judged was inside the box which resulted in a penalty that Westfield put away to make it 2-5, Terry replaced Coops with Leon White who dropped back into the back four and even with just ten men on the pitch with the overlapping pairing of Dobo and Gray and Sully playing on the right it was all Dons, Joe got his 2nd on sixty two minutes and Andy Sullivan made in Seven five minutes later with a wonderfully run and well taken goal, Gavin Bolger also hit the bar and Dobo went on a run from the half way line going pass five players but the final shot was well saved by the keeper, final score 2-7 the Dons not bad for our first adventure into the F.A. Vase next round opponents are Pagham , next up in the league is a home game against Frimley Green on Tuesday 7.45pm kick off more of the same please.

Westfield v AFC Wimbledon (at
Woking FC)
Saturday sees us make our first entry as AFCW in the FA Vase, our opponents in the 1st qualifying round will be a team from our division Westfield, on current form this could be a bit one sided, Westfield have lost their last two games 4-0 & 7-0 and have given up the advantage of playing at their own ground to cross the road like last season's league game at Woking where we beat them 4-0, also our form at the moment is well let's 5/5 not bad, but as someone once said 'its a funny old game' .
