Tuesday 11th October 2005
Hampton & Richmond 2-1 AFC Wimbledon
The large travelling Dons support for the midweek clash against runaway leaders Hampton & Richmond, where lift wondering how we came always from H&R with no points, let alone the three points that the performance deserved and also wondering how H&R were runaway leaders.
The woodwork came to H&R's defence twice before the dons took a deserved lead and what a goal, Matt York passed the ball into the path of Wes Daly who hit an unstoppable curling shot from way out into the top left corner of the net.
Richard Butler had two chances to extend the lead, but the busy H&R keeper was on hand to stop him and the Dons went in at half time with a one goal lead.
Four minutes into the second half a header by Anthony Howard back toward Andy Little, left Steve Butler having to chase back with a H&R player and just outside the area the two players became entangled and both went down, the ref believed the Butler did it, decided not only to award H&R a freekick but to send of Butler as well for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity even though Andy Little had the ball in his hands.
H&R made a hash of the freekick, but managed to get the ball back into the box where Rob Paris managed to flick the deflected ball into the back of the net to level the score.
It was hard to tell which team had only ten men as the Dons carried on as the had in the first half, Wes Daly nearly repeated his first goal, only to see the ball sail over the H&R keepers head, hit the crossbar and land on the ground just as the keepers backside landed on it.
H&R's second goal came against
the run of play, but like Daly's it was a cracker from a corner the fell to
Elliott Godfrey on the edge of the box who hit a volley past Andy Little into
the top of the net.

Saturday 8th October 2005
AFC Wimbledon
1-1 Billericay Town
The dons started the first of three tough league matches against higher placed teams in Billericay Town, Hampton & Richmond and Fisher Athletic with a one all draw with a solid performance against a large and organized Billericay side that came to Kingsmeadow to attack us rather than sit back and defend.
Once again though a static Dons defence resulted in a goal for the opponents as Billericay's winger drifted into the box from the side and passed the ball into Dave McSweeney for a simple goal
Trailing at half time saw two chances Sonny Farr and Matt Fowler replaced Stefan Wojciechowski and Shane Smeltz and within a minute of the kick off the Dons had pulled level and once again it was from a Barry Moore free kick from the edge of the area.
The action went from end to end for the next forty four minutes as both sides looked for a second goal, but a hat-trick of one all draws was the end result and a point a piece was a fair result.

Tuesday 4th October 2005
AFC Wimbledon 1-1 Wealdstone
The Dons started off the match attacking the westbank, but with the westbank now sectioned off for away supporters it was the Tempest End which was ram to the newly installed roof that saw Little of the action in the first half and from the start the Dons took the action to the Stones and the first goal chance wasn't long in coming and after a goal mouth scrabble, Steve Butler went close from the resulting corner.
After another few close shaves Wealdstone made a few chances of their own which gave the TEnd some close up Andy Little action.
Just after half time Wes Daly recorded the first goal in front of the new TEnd, a Shane Smeltz shot from outside the box was parried by the keeper into the path of Wes who whack the loose ball into the back of the net to the delight of the Dons supporters.
The joy was short lived as within less than three minutes Wealdstone lobbed the ball passed a static Dons defence and Jermaine Beckford ran through and thumped the ball pass Andy Little.
The Dons continued taking the game to the Stones, but to no avail as the second game in a row ended in a one all draw.

Heybridge Swifts v AFC Wimbledon
A fairly even and none eventful match was finally kicked into gear in the fifty fifth minutes when Heybridge broke the deadlock, Cliff Akurang went pass Steve Butler then with Anthony Howard in slow pursuit he slotted the ball pass Andy Little, to the pleasure of the local fans.
The Dons then had their best spell of the match, but the Swifts keeper was in top form and produced two fine saves to thwart the efforts of Dave Sargent and then another long range strike by Barry Moore.
Then against the run of play Anthony Howard was slow to remove his hand out the way of a bouncing ball in the box and was panelized by the ref who awarded a penalty, to the surprise of the away supporters it was the swifts keeper that ran the full length of the pitch to take the spot kick, lucky one of our players had been made away that the keeper takes the kicks and always goes the same way straight down the middle, which he did much to the joy of the Andy Little who stood his ground and just gathered the ball up and launched an attack down the right, but to the frustration of the Dons supporters behind the unguarded goal who all shouted for some to shoot from the halfway line or at least launch one of the long balls that the players had been doing so often in the first half, the players decided to try and pass their way up field to no avail.
The Dons finally got the rub of the green in the late goals stakes, when after some good work by Sonny Farr and Wes Daly they threaded the ball to Richard Butler who turned in the box and whack the ball into the back of the net in the eighty ninth minute.
