AFC Wimbledon 4-0 Godalming
& G
Three more point for the Dons despite the best efforts of the ref, why do we always get bad refs against G&G?
In damp conditions the Dons where on the attack from the start and on 15m Coops chased down a lost cause ball to the byline and the G&G's keeper came out to to guide the ball over the line, but he had left just enough space for Coops to slot the ball between him and the post and go in off the back post 1-0.
The 2nd goal also came from the left this time it was a cross from Ryan Gray that cleared all the players in the six yard box and fell into the path of Lee Sidwell at the back who hit a sweet ball into the back of the net.
What happen late in the 1st half set the stage for the 2nd half, the G&G's keeper went to claim a loose ball to the right of his box, but as he slide down towards the ball a combination of his pace and the wet grass meant he carried on sliding with the ball in his hand's over the line, at this point the ref blow for a freekick to the Dons and most refs would have sent him off but this one didn't even give him a booking.
The 2nd half was a very frustrating affair mainly because of the ref's inability to see and fouls including to clear penalty claims 1st after Paul Scott had his feet taken from below him then seconds later another Don was felled in the box.
It wasn't until the last 10 minutes of the game that the Dons class started to over power G&G, the of a string of chances came from a freekick well outside the box Coops lined up the ball and then set of to nearly the halfway line for his run up, on striking the ball it flow goalwards and was only stops on the line by a G&G player who will no doubt have a sore head in the morning.
The 3rd goal was a bit like the second with the ball going over to the man at the back this time it was Sully (on for Sidwell) who also struck a peach of a ball into the top of the goal.
But the best was left to last with 90 minutes up and in extra time the Dons received a freekick some 10 yards out side the box and before anyone had noticed the ref had blow his whistle Gavin Bolger had looped the ball over the wall and the keeper into the back of the net 4-0 Dons and the joint 2nd highest crowd of the season 2,724 went home happy sing along in the rain to Phillo's Fatman Scoops AFC remix.

Chipstead 0-3 AFC Wimbledon
Another solid performance by the Dons to retake the top spot from a poor looking Chipstead.
The game was delayed by 15 minutes to allow the 1,974 crowd into the ground, the Dons could have taken the lead after only two minutes, but for the woodwork, 17 minutes had passed when the Dons took the lead, the ball was cross from right side of the pitch towards Joe Sheerin who out jumped his defender touching the ball onto Ryan Gray who volleyed the ball from outside the box near the bye line straight into the far side of the goal.
The Dons 2nd goal came from the penalty hole, the Dons received a corner and Danny Oakins put himself on the goal line by the keeper and one of the Chipstead players took offenseand started pushing Danny around, the corner was crossed over and cleared up field, as the players ran out of the box the same player passed across the front of Danny and elbowed him in the face, the ref who was running just too the side of them saw Danny fall holding his face and blew his whistle and pointed to the spot, but did not book anyone.
Coops placed the ball on the edge of the hole in the ground that was the penalty spot and hit a near perfect shot into the top right corner of the goal giving the keeper no chance.
Five minutes later Seb Favata went for the ball which was between the legs of a Chipstead player who was on the floor, the ref gave a freekick but some of the Chipstead players started pushing him around which lead to all but the keepers getting involved in a fight while the ref stood back and let it blow over, when it had calmed down the ref gave yellow cards to Seb and the Chipstead No. 7. HT 0-2.
The 2nd half took time to get going and the game started to be a bit more dirty with tackles going in late, one tackle by Simon Bassey that was not that bad resulted in the Chipstead player kicking out at Bassey for which the ref gave Bassey and their player a yellow card, the Chipstead players from then on seem kept on at Bassey until he must of said or done something off the ball that only the linesman saw, the ref after speaking to the linesman called Bassey and a Chipstead player over and sent both the players off.
Paul Scott came on from Coops and nearly score with his 1st shot on goal, but he didn't have long to wait on 74 minutes new signing Harvey linked up well with Joe Sheerin and Ryan Gray on the left that let free down the wing and he crossed over a fine cross that met in mid air by Paul Scott who volleyed home.
Just after that Chipstead made a substitute the player that came on ran on the pitch to the far side to get involved with the match and his 1st touch was to go though Paul Scott leaving him down injured then after getting a straight red carried on going off the pitch to the dressing room.
The Dons had another four or five goal attempt's including one cleared of the line from a shot by MC Harvey and another of the post by Danny Oakins and the best was when the ball came back to the Chipstead keeper who sliced the ball backward just missing the goal, resulting in a chant of 'how the Fxx did you get to the top'.
FT 0-3 and another challenger dispatched with ease, also new keeper Lee Carroll didn't have much to do, but did look confident and called out well when claiming crosses.

Herne Bay 2-3 AFC Wimbledon
On arriving at the ground an hour before kick there looked like only a handful of supporters in the ground, where was everybody? the answer was in the compact club house which was packed to the brim with people watching the England Rugby match.
The four lovely ladies behind the bar where doing a great job in queuing up two of each kind of beverage so there was little or no waiting time, something other clubs including ours could bear in mind as the quicker we get them the more we spend.
With the Rugby over and England giving the South Africans a good whipping and the Dons game about to start it was no surprise that the crowd was in buoyant mood, it was also so good to see that the entire pitch was now surrounded by supporters including a couple of hundred home supporters willing to give some good banter back to the vocal Dons behind the goal we where kick to in the 1st half.
The game started slow and both team seem to take their time getting use to the hard dusty pitch, Herne Bay had the 1st half chance to score, but it was the Dons who opened the scoring with 19 minutes gone and after a couple of bad tackles the Dons received a freekick outside the box the ball was hit in and at the back jump Matt Everard to head the ball goalward, but the ball was cleared by a HB player only to fall to Matt again who drove the ball low and hard making sure it went in the 2nd time one nil the Dons.
The Dons had the best of the attacks in the 1st half including a ball going wide off the post and the Herne Bay keeper seem unsettled ever time the ball came in the box, but the defence continued to clear the ball, then in the 40th minute Steve Gibson gave away a free kick and was booked, from the freekick the ball was put into the box Matt Martin tried to clear but failed then Danny Oakins headed it back toward the goal area where Herne Bays Cirillo headed into en empty net 1-1, Coops could have restored the lead just before half time but again a HB defender got to the ball knocking it wide.
The 2nd half was a more even event with the home team showing more confidence in going forward and Matt Martin pulled of some good saves to keep the score level, but the Dons just stepped up a gear after each attack to make for an end to end game, the Dons 2nd goal came from a long ball up field which Joe Sheerin and a HB defender both chased down, the HB player got to the ball 1st and headed back towards his keeper but the keeper had also came rushing out to claim the ball and the ball sailed over his head towards goal, Joe was the quicker of the three to get to the loose ball and knock home the second to the delights of the Dons fans packed in behind the goal.
With Herne Bay looking spent and unlikely to score a goal, the Dons stated to brake HB down at will but as is the way in cup ties anything can happen an on 75 minutes one of their player took the ball pass Seb in the centre circle and sent a looping shot from 30-35 yard out over the head of the stranded Matt Martin who stood no chance of getting to it and silencing all but a small pocket of the crowd 2-2 and set-up 15 nail biting minutes of rollacoster football.
Herne Bay had now come back twice to level the game and with extra time approaching the Dons piled on even more pressure and after numerous corners one of which was cleared off the line with a diving header up stepped the Big man once again to head home the winner in the 93 minute and send the packed ground mental in a way not seen since fatboy scored against the villa, yes there have been some wonderful celebrations in the life as an AFC Dons fan but this was special the tension produced by a very tight cup game that could go either way suddenly all being released as joy in a split second just has to be seen to believed and there was no way back for Herne Bay even with the extra four minutes the ref added on top of the three already played and Herne Bay looked shattered by the goal.
Well done to both team for giving 100% till the end a truly enjoyable cup game, also thanks to the Herne Bay players for applauding the crowd at the end of the game.
We've got Matt Everard, we've got Matt Everard, we've got Matt Everard, we've got Matt Everard.

AFC Wimbledon 4-1 Sandhurst Town
Finally a team came to Kingsmeadow and gave us a game, Sandhurst for their credit gave Matt Martin something to do and he proved he is a good shot stopper, well apart from the goal also good to see his kicking has improved.
The 1st half was 50/50 with the Dons getting an early goal scored by Seb Favata and Sandhurst scoring from a corner that fell in-between four defenders and to the feet of the lone Sandhurst player who knocked it in. HT 1-1
The 2nd half also started with both teams having their fare share of shots on target, but from the second on 74 minutes that Matt Everard pointed to the spot on the six yard line that he wanted a corner put to so he could head the ball home there was only going to be one winner.
The third goal was created by a wonderful run by Paul Scott, chasing a long ball to the bye line shadowed by two Sandhurst players he turned the ball round went back along the edge of the box, then turned inside and played the ball into the path of Coops who was never going to miss from close range.
Paul Scott also did a lovely bit of showboating that would not have looked out of place on Soccer AM's clips along with the likes of Zidane, Zole and Cole no silly not Ashley but Joe Cole, when a ball was played behind him at butt height he flicked the ball with the side of his heel over his shoulder and the oncoming Sandhurst defender what an asset he has become to an already strong team.
The 4th goal was another fine goal from Lee Sidwell, making his return from injury and replacing Andy Sullivan late on received the ball on the right hand side cut inside two players and drilled the ball low across goal at such a force that the keeper was unable to get near it.
Not the best of performances and the 4-1 score was a bit flattering and with two tough games coming up 1st an unknown factor of Herne Bay next week in the Vase and then on the following Saturday were away against a Chipstead team that look like being one of our main threats this season and with a few ex Dons in their squad they will no doubt be trying to prove a thing or two against us and hopefully this game will be a wake up call that not all teams will just roll over and play dead for us this season.

Mertsham 0-5
AFC Wimbledon
1R Premier Challenge Cup @ Kingsmeadow
Not a five star performance by the Don's, but were through to the next round of the cup to face Walton Casuals.
The Dons could not seem to settle in the 1st half and the lost if Ryan Gray after just eight minutes did not help he was replaced by Darren Dobinson and Seb Favata also took a knock just before half time and was replaced by Noal Frankum, the Dons however were not really challenged by Mertsham, Coops scoring the only goal of the 1st half was from a corner on the left Sully swung the ball across and after a couple of players played head tennis with the ball it went back into the six yard box where Coops headed the ball down into the bottom corner.
Mertsham could have drawn level just after the interval and after that the Dons just took control of the game , the 2nd goal came nine minutes into the 2nd half when Paul Scott making his full debut received the ball in the box, turned and went to go for goal only to have his legs taken away from him for the second game in row, up stepped Coops to take the penalty placing it low into the bottom right corner.
The third goal came on 83 minutes and was a cracker from another corner the fell to Noal 'Frodo' Frankum ten yards outside the box who let fly and unlike as in recent matches which saw the ball usually hit someone of fly over this one screamed into the back of the net and off he went on a celebration run all of his own as if chased by The Black Riders themselves.
With the game over as a competition the two goals in the last couple of minutes flatted the scoreline, the 4th was scored by Steve Gibson with a goal from the six yard box and the 5th was also a close range header by Paul Scott who had been making chances all game, it was also both players 1st goals for the club and hopefully not their last well done both players.
Full time 0-5.

Wednesday 1 October 2003
AFC Wimbledon 7-0 Chessington Utd
HT 4-0 FT 7-0 The 1st team went one better than the reserves as the Dons totally dominated Chessington Utd and we put seven pass them and record our tenth win out of ten games and are only seven goals of the fifty mark.
The game started with Dobo Jnr starting on the right side of midfield as Sully was late due to traffic and it didn't take Dobo long to settle back into the routine of going pass players.
Coops had the 1st chance when he lob the ball over the keeper but hitting the bar, the 1st goal came in the 7th minute from a Ryan Gray corner which came in from the left to Danny Oakins who was causing the keeper and defenders trouble on the line he's shoot was blocked and cleared to the edge of the box where Matt Everard drilled the ball low into the bottom corner, for a second the keeper got his hands to the ball in his hands then saw it slip through into the back of the net.
It was another 30 minutes before another goal, but as in current matches when we get one we get three, the 1st of the three was from a ball in from the right side to the edge of the box where Joe Sheerin volleyed the ball into the top of the net, the 3rd goal came two minutes later Danny O cross the ball to the back post where Coops brought the ball down and passed the ball back into the box to where Danny O had followed in his cross and headed home from six yards out and the fourth was also a header this time by Joe for his second goal of the night, three goals four minutes and four up with ten minutes and a 2nd half to go, there could have been at least another three goals before half time.
With the rain still falling it was down to the athletics end we went and it took less than two minutes for the Dons to equal the score of the previous Wednesday against the other Chessington of six, yes we got two goals two minutes the 1st was another wonder goal from Kevin Cooper, he turned and struck the ball from the edge of the box, the sixth came from another corner which was planted in the back of the net by the head of Matt Everard for his second of the night.
Shortly after that Coops and Bassey where replaced by Sully and new signing Paul Scott making his home debut, Dobo dropped back into Basseys role at left back and Sully moved onto the right wing, but despite plenty of chances the seventh goal would not go in and it was not until the 84th minute when Dobo and Ryan Gray combined on the left to get the ball down to the line where Paul Scott received the ball inside the box, he then turned his marker and was about to strike when his feet were taken from below him, penalty and with Coops off it was down to Joe Sheerin or would it be Matt Everard as both where on hat-tricks to take it, up stepped our captain to strike the ball low and to the right the keeper did well to get his hand to it but could not stop the ball going in SEVEN Nil Dons.Goalscorers : Matt Everard (7,47), Joe Sheerin (30,34,83), Danny Oakins (32), Kevin Cooper (46)
Team : Matt Martin, Steve Gibson, Danny Oakins, Matt Everard, Darren Dobinson, Simon Bassey, Gavin Bolger, Seb Favata, Ryan Gray, Joe Sheerin, Kevin Cooper,
