League Match 2003-2004
28/04/04 PLSD AFC Wimbledon 2-1 Millwall Lionesses
|
Wednesday 28th April
2004 The Ladies fought back from being behind after twenty ninth when Millwall took advantage shot Tracy Perry did well to push away, but only into the path of another Millwall Lioness. The 2nd half the Dons where attacking the Westbank and gave the Millwall keeper more to do, on fifty eight minutes, the ref award a penalty for a foul by the keeper and Maria Bertelli stepped up to equalised with a well taken penalty to the keepers top right. With time ticking away and a win needed to give the Dons any chance to take over 2nd place from Bristol on Sunday the Dons went all out attack and it final paid off when the the ref award the Dons their 2nd penalty. With only six minutes left the pressure shot again fell on the shoulders of the captain Maria Bertelli, she calmly placed he ball and hit left of centre and past the keeper. Millwall came back at the Dons, but the defence and Tracy in goal stood firm and held out and won. Last up for the Ladies this season is the 2nd v 3rd, a win for Bristol would take them above Southampton and win the league, a win for the Dons will see them leapfrog Bristol and take a well earned 2nd place, a draw will be no good for either team and will see Southampton win the league and promotion. Well Done you AFCW Ladies and good luck in Bristol you know you can win. Goalscorers : Maria Bertelli (58 pen, 84 pen) Attendance : 100 |
